ASSISTANT CHIEF

Job Title: Deputy Chief, Statewide Training Program Department: Department of Forestry & Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Classification: Assistant Chief – $10,569.00 – $13,674.00 per month Position: 1 Permanent Full‑Time Work Location: In Office (Telework: No) Responsibilities and Working Conditions Occasional travel for meetings and emergency incident activity may be required. Engage in field work that requires above‑average physical performance, endurance, and superior condition, including running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting over 25 pounds; pace of work typically set by the emergency situation. Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications as described in the Assistant Chief class specification. Special Requirements This position requires Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) Clearance prior to hire. Incumbent may be required to wear respiratory protection equipment, including self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Annual medical clearance required for fit‑testing; includes comprehensive medical evaluation with physical, vision, hearing, spirometry, and treadmill tests.
