Travel RN - ICUAmerican TravelerOlympia, Washington, United StatesPosition status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: DaysLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1Start date: 2026-11-30$2,431.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a combined ICU/PCU unit requiring a minimum of 2 years ICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.DetailsCombined ICU/PCU unit in a 107-bed hospital in Olympia, WA10 ICU beds and 22 PCU beds, with an average ICU census of around 5 patientsMajority of contract may involve caring for PCU-level patientsPatient population includes sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleeds, ETOH/IVDA, SI, psych, and COVID casesNeuro patients include stable CVA, occasional TPA administration, and stable TBICVICU cases include pacemakers, angiograms, post-cath care (TR bands), and fem-pop bypassSurgical patients include ortho and general surgery casesManual proning and temporary pacemaker management requiredICU RNs trained to perform short dialysis runs; no CRRT or open heart casesICU patient ratio is 1:2; PCU and Med/Surg ratios are 1:4, occasionally up to 1:4 during surges12-hour day shifts (0700-1930) and night shifts (1900-0730)Self-scheduling model with manager oversight to fill staffing gapsSchedule provided 6 weeks at a timeRequired to work 2 weekends per month, subject to staffing needs1-2 holidays possible per seasonFloating to Med/Surg, ER, and occasionally Mother Baby (for post-GYN surgical patients only) in rotation with staffPCU assignments are not considered floatingEMR: Epic (preferred)Equipment used includes ICU Medical Plum Duo/Single IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Philips monitorsRequirementsActive WA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of ICU experience requiredRequired certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSExperienced charge nurse background required if charge duties are requestedStrong peripheral IV skills preferredProficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation requiredExperience with invasive line management (CVP, A-lines) requiredIV medication titration experience requiredWorking knowledge of vent, trach, and high-flow BiPAP management requiredTraveler Telemetry Competency exam required to be completed and passed prior to startAdditional InformationCare team includes RT, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7, along with HUC and centralized tele monitoringCNA support ratio is 1:12Charge nurse typically remains free-floating but may take a partial patient assignment based on staffing needsRNs are responsible for their own central line draws and may occasionally assist with peripheral draws when phlebotomy is short-staffedOrientation includes 4 hours with a clinical educator (badge, login, unit tour, policies) plus 3 shifts on the unitUp to 7 days of time off may be approved; contract extension recommended if unable to meet 36 hours per week due to time offNavy blue scrubs requiredFree parking available on siteBreaks include three 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch per shiftSmall hospital environment with a strong team-oriented, family-like cultureStrong teamwork, communication, and positive attitude are valuedFirst-time travelers will not be accepted, though exceptions may be considered based on experienceHours per week: 36Hours per shift: 12
