Senior Sales Tax Analyst (Hybrid)

Position Summary

A prominent global corporation headquartered in Melville, NY, is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant for its corporate tax department. This position focuses on filing and verification of multi-state sales and use tax returns in compliance with state and local regulations. The role is hybrid, with part of the week on-site and the rest from home.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare and review multi-state sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions to align with changing state and local regulations.
• Handle journal entries, perform complex account reconciliations, track down reporting variances, and determine or recommend corrective actions.
• Review purchase invoices to determine proper taxability and verify the accuracy of use tax accruals.
• Review and validate customer sales tax exemption certificates based on state requirements and maintain data accuracy within tax software.
• Maintain data configurations and transaction setups within specialized tax software and the corporate ERP system.
• Gather necessary support documentation for external audit requests and research evolving tax laws to ensure corporate compliance.
• Evaluate existing tax workflows and recommend operational improvements, including support for internal automation and robotic process initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• A Masters or CPA is helpful but not mandatory.
• Five or more years of progressive Multi-state Sales and Use Tax experience.
• Hands-on proficiency with Vertex or a comparable enterprise tax management system.
• Experience working with Tableau data visualization tools or Oracle ERP is considered a distinct advantage.
• Advanced Excel skills are strictly required to manage large data sets.
• Ability to work independently with general direction from leadership while collaborating smoothly across internal teams.

Compensation & Benefits

Our client offers a base salary range of $90,000 – $114,000/year (commensurate with experience), plus a highly competitive corporate compensation package, including top-tier medical, dental, and vision insurance, an employer-matched 401(k) savings program, discretionary performance bonuses, educational assistance, and generous paid time off.

This is a hybrid positio n requiring 3 days per week at our client's modern corporate campus and private building located in Melville, Long Island, New York.
