Generator Technician

Job Description Job Description North Point is the preeminent Kohler dealer and generator installer in the area. We are known for being the best, because we value quality work and respectable values. We are seeking an experienced Residential & Light Commercial Generator Technician to step into an active field route immediately, performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Kohler stand-by generators. This is a primary coverage role during an employee leave of absence, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent full-time role. Qualifications: * 5+ yrs hands-on field experience servicing standby residential generator systems (preferred) * Core understanding of engine diagnostics and AC/DC electrical systems * Manufacturer knowledge of Kohler (or Generac) generator systems * Background in automotive repair, small engine mechanics, or similar fields (willing to train if candidate has strong mechanical/electrical aptitude) * Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills * Ability to communicate your work with customers in an understandable way * Dependable work ethic and desire to learn and perform high-quality work with pride * Valid driver's license (local geographic familiarity preferred) Responsibilities: * Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on residential standby generators * Preventatively diagnose system issues or damaged/worn parts * Provide professional, clear communication with homeowners on site * Complete and submit thorough, clear, and concise Service Tickets that document the work performed, parts used, diagnostics, and clear recommendations for solution (if applicable) * Take ownership of every job to ensure complete resolution and functionality; this includes documenting follow-up work and initiating parts orders as needed * Manage schedule and plan job route independently and efficiently to complete required jobs * Communicate regularly with other technician and office with a teamwork mindset Schedule & Provisions * Monday - Friday (occasional emergency on-call) * Company service van and primary tools provided * Access to ordering manufacturer parts as needed * Office collaboration for administrative needs Company Description North Point is a family owned & operated business with 25+ years of installing and servicing Kohler residential standby generators (now under separate names).
