Field Inspector

Kuhlman Electric is seeking a detail-oriented Field Inspector to join our team on an independent contract basis. In this role, you will represent the Kuhlman brand by meeting with the local city/ town inspectors to ensure electrical installations meet local safety standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct On-Site Electrical Inspections: Be available on site at various residential locations with the city/ town inspector for visual and functional inspections to verify compliance with local codes. Documentation & Reporting: Complete quick, accurate post-inspection notes and submit brief reports (or photo confirmations) following each job visit. Conduct minor electrical changes to meet local inspector requirements. Professional Representation: Serve as a polite, professional point of contact for homeowners and electrical inspectors, wearing Kuhlman branded apparel. What We Offer Competitive Pay Structure: Paid at a fixed, flat rate per completed inspection (guaranteed payout for each site visit). $75.00-$100.00 per inspection Mileage Reimbursement: Reimbursed per mile for travel to and from job sites. Ultimate Flexibility: You manage your own workload and hours—ideal for semi-retired trade professionals or contractors looking to fill open gaps in your schedule. Local Radius: We align job assignments within a mutually agreed-upon driving radius around your home location to minimize long commutes. Qualifications & Requirements Licensing: Active Journeyman or Master Electrician License (or recently retired with valid licensure credentials). Experience: Deep knowledge of residential electrical systems, national electrical code (NEC), and safe installation practices. Vehicle & Tools: Reliable personal vehicle for local travel, a valid driver's license, and basic inspection tools (multimeter, voltage tester, flashlight, etc.). Communication Skills: Professional demeanor, punctual, and comfortable communicating directly with homeowners and our internal team.
