Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab provides specialized pre-procedure, post-procedure, and PACU recovery care for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular interventions. This role involves delivering direct patient care and procedural support in both acute and non-acute settings within a fast-paced environment focused on vascular, electrical conduction, coronary, and structural heart conditions. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and related procedures.
- Monitor patients' cardiac telemetry and vital signs closely during pre/post-procedure and PACU phases.
- Support procedural activities and assist the cardiac care team as needed.
- Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning relevant to cardiac care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status and interventions.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards within the cath lab and PACU environments.
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from AHA.
- Recent experience (minimum 2 years) in CVICU, Cardiac Care, or PACU.
- Telemetry monitoring skills.
- Experience working in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system in the cardiac specialty area.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, acute care cardiac environment.
- May require occasional weekend shifts based on unit needs.
- Must have recent clinical experience related to cardiac critical care or PACU settings.
- 40 hours per week, working four 10-hour shifts.
- Rotation includes day and night shifts.
- Shift assignments may include occasional weekends as needed by the unit.
