ICR, one of the fastest-growing strategic communications and advisory firms globally, is seeking a Senior Vice President or Managing Director to help build and deliver an integrated investor relations and institutional capital formation advisory offering for private markets clients. The role will support funds, co-investments, and separate accounts, working with investment and fund managers, institutional investors, and public and private asset owners.

This newly created role combines strategic consulting and LP intelligence with ICR’s communications expertise. The successful candidate will help clients strengthen fundraising differentiation, deepen allocator insight, build stakeholder trust, and communicate the factors that support long-term enterprise value.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded private markets professional with expertise in investor relations, fundraising strategy, or institutional advisory. The ideal candidate will understand how limited partners, investment consultants, family offices, wealth platforms, and other allocators evaluate managers and investment opportunities, and will translate that understanding into actionable strategies and insights for clients.

The role will focus on helping clients articulate a differentiated investment proposition, substantiate it with credible proof points, prepare for institutional investor engagement, and develop high-quality fundraising materials. Working alongside ICR’s experienced investor relations and communications advisors, this individual will also conduct allocator intelligence and confidential perception work, advise on reputation and stakeholder considerations, and support clients expanding into private wealth channels.

This individual will assume progressively greater responsibility for senior client counsel, engagement leadership, business development, and advancing ICR’s private markets capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise private markets clients on institutional investor relations, capital raising strategy, fundraising positioning, and investor engagement across funds, co-investments, and separate accounts.
• Develop differentiated fundraising narratives that clearly articulate a manager’s investment edge, repeatability, team quality, track record, institutional infrastructure, and ability to create value.
• Build proof-point architectures that connect investment strategy and performance with credible evidence, case studies, portfolio outcomes, and organizational capabilities.
• Lead the development and refinement of investor presentations, private placement materials, meeting scripts, due diligence content, and other fundraising communications.
• Prepare senior investment professionals and management teams for meetings with limited partners, consultants, family offices, wealth platforms, and other prospective investors.
• Develop allocator intelligence, market briefs, confidential perception studies, and client-specific recommendations based on the priorities and decision criteria of institutional investors and other capital providers.
• Help clients assess how reputation, leadership, governance, portfolio-company issues, regulatory attention, and stakeholder perceptions may affect investor confidence, talent, deal access, and capital formation.
• Advise managers entering or expanding within private wealth channels, including the development of channel narratives, educational content, platform-launch communications, and adviser-facing thought leadership.
• Serve as a senior day-to-day client advisor, ensuring high-quality, timely execution across engagements.
• Identify and cultivate new business opportunities among fund managers, investment firms, asset owners, institutional investors, advisers, and other private markets participants.
• Collaborate across ICR’s Financial Services, Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, Crisis & Special Situations, Governance Advisory, Shareholder & Activism Advisory, and Capital Markets Advisory capabilities to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to the continued development of ICR’s private markets offering, including its market positioning, intellectual capital, service model, and go-to-market strategy.
• Mentor and develop junior team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, analytical rigor, and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in private markets investor relations, capital formation, fund placement, institutional fundraising, investment management, financial advisory, investment consulting, or a related field, with flexibility based on role level.
• Strong knowledge of private markets and the institutional fundraising process, including funds, transactions, co-investments, and separate accounts.
• Experience working with private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, venture capital, or other alternative investment strategies.
• A practical understanding of how institutional investors, consultants, family offices, wealth platforms, and other allocators assess managers and investment opportunities.
• Demonstrated ability to develop persuasive fundraising narratives, investor materials, market analyses, meeting strategies, and executive-level recommendations.
• Experience advising senior investment professionals, firm leaders, and client teams on complex capital formation or investor relations matters.
• Strong commercial instincts and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop relationships, and contribute to revenue growth.
• Excellent analytical, project management, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Established relationships across the private markets ecosystem, including fund managers, institutional investors, consultants, wealth platforms, and other advisers, are strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or relevant financial credentials are a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant financial information and market intelligence platforms.

Salary Range:

• SVP: $175k - $200k
• MD: $200k - $275k
