An established family law firm in Islip, NY is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing team. The firm handles a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and family offense proceedings, and is looking for someone who is confident, personable, and motivated to grow as a litigator. Candidates must have direct family law experience in order to be considered for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, stipulations, and discovery demands/responses
• Appear in court for conferences, motions, hearings, and related proceedings
• Participate in client consultations, intake meetings, and case strategy discussions
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel professionally and effectively
• Manage multiple active litigation matters while maintaining organized digital files
• Assist clients through emotionally sensitive and high-conflict family law matters
• Work collaboratively with the legal team while taking ownership of assigned files

Qualifications

• 1+ years of family law or litigation experience required
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and interested in courtroom advocacy
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
• Professional, assertive, and client-focused demeanor
• Calm under pressure and comfortable handling conflict professionally

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Word and Excel
• PDF editing software
• Electronic filing systems
• Digital document management platforms
• Slack and other communication tools
• AI tools such as Claude and similar technology resources
