Kitchen ManagerEphrata Area School District, 803 Oak Boulevard, Ephrata, PA, is recruiting for a Kitchen Manager. The Kitchen Manager will help in and oversee the preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch to the student body and staff in a sanitary, efficient, and friendly manner. Position may include cooking, cashier, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning duties.Essential Functions (May Include, but not limited to):Assist in and oversee the preparation and serving of food items for the food service program, ensuring minimum waste.Read and accurately follow recipes, assuring foods meet the HHFKA and NSLP breakfast & lunch requirements and HACCP procedures.Organize yourself and your staff to maximize productivity and work effectively to complete tasks timely.Utilize all measurement tools correctly and safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment.Ensure required quantities of breakfast and lunch are prepared with great attention to quality and eye appeal.Maintain kitchen and serving areas in clean, safe, and sanitary condition, following all HACCP guidelines and standard operating procedures.Correctly identify NSLP breakfast & lunch meals and offer vs. serve to accurately meet state & federal reimbursement requirements.Collect and reconcile money for meals and a la carte and account for meals served.Knowledge & Skill RequirementEducation: High school diploma or its equivalentCertification: Serve-safe certificationExperience: Possess working knowledge of cooking materials and methods, operation & maintenance of kitchen equipment and of sanitation and chemical use; Possess a knowledge of rules & regulations regarding sanitation, chemicals, MSDS sheets and food preparationLanguage Skills: Ability to effectively work harmoniously with others and communicate with students, parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgroundsMathematical Skills: Ability to add/subtract and make correct change with cash sales and correctly tally cash drawers; must possess working knowledge of measurements and be able to extend recipes for different quantitiesReasoning Skills: Ability to think on your feet and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environmentOther Skills & Abilities: Demonstrate clear, effective interpersonal and supervisory skills including neat and clean appearance Demonstrate effective leadership skills Ability to have foresight and plan and use time of self and staff effectively Ability to coach and train employees on procedures and policies Knowledge of basic computer skills, including excel & wordWorkplace ExpectationsMust demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.Must interact positively with administration, students, staff, parents, and community members.Must demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior & speech and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner.Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office.Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbooksEssential Physical RequirementThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
