Manager – Clinical Quality Improvement, Radiology Full Time – Stanford Health Care, Palo Alto, CA. Overview Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the work of team members, leading and coordinating efforts to ensure process, performance, and continuous quality improvement programs and projects are developed and managed using a data‑driven focus. Sets priorities to align with the Quality and Safety strategy and to improve operational and program efficiencies, minimize waste and variation, and sustain high‑value healthcare delivery. Responsibilities Manage the program, providing strategic direction and collaborating with internal resources, consultants, auditors, electronic systems, and physician champions. Perform supervisory functions: interview, recommend or hire staff; arrange or provide training; evaluate performance; initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action. Build, direct, manage and ensure implementation and effectiveness of assigned process, performance, and continuous quality improvement programs, projects, and initiatives. Implement a performance management and improvement process that positively impacts the health care system and coordinate with the Quality, Safety and Healthy Equity Department. Research and design appropriate performance and quality training. Coordinate capacity building for all levels of management and employees. Establish continuous performance and quality improvement monitoring and reporting. Report status and impact regularly. Collaborate on designing the information technology infrastructure required to support a system‑wide performance and quality improvement system. Ensure timely data collection and distribute regular progress reports. Stay abreast of developments in the Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement field; search for best practices and recommend implementation to senior management. Education & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a work‑related field or discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a work‑related field is preferred. Experience Qualifications Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience within a large acute‑care hospital or health‑care system, in one or more of the following areas: Patient Safety Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement Value‑Based Care Regulatory, Accreditation and Licensing Clinical experience such as Radiology Technologist (RT) or Nursing Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge and application of principles and practices of management and supervision. Knowledge of accreditation, regulatory, licensing and other standards applicable to hospitals (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, California codes, etc.). Knowledge of multiple performance improvement methodologies and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, Poka‑Yoke, 5S, SIPOC, value stream mapping, process mapping, cause‑and‑effect diagrams, prioritization, selection matrix). Knowledge of principles and practices of high‑value care, including barriers to high‑value care. Knowledge of value‑based decision‑making, health‑care payment/reimbursement, and delivery models. Knowledge of trends and research in the medical field and health‑care systems. Knowledge of methods and procedures for assessing patient care adequacy and identifying gaps or deficiencies in services delivered. Advanced quantitative skills; able to use statistics to evaluate and interpret data, summarize results and make recommendations. Ability to apply the Clinical Effectiveness framework to focus improvement initiatives on outcomes, appropriateness, patient‑centeredness, and value. Ability to coordinate project initiatives, meetings, and clinical program management to achieve service and unit‑specific goals. Ability to navigate strategic and operational challenges with limited resources. Effective communication skills to convey key messages to diverse audiences. Ability to stay current on inpatient quality measures with external visibility (CMS, HealthGrades, US News & World Report, HEDIS, PQRS). Proficiency in MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
