Order Picker

General Accountability Responsible for the accurate and timely fulfillment of picking/pulling product from the warehouse shelves, sorting items, and ensuring all products on the order request are ready to be packed. Order pickers also ensure all products on the order request are free from damage, verified, and counted for packaging. Shifts Available 1st Shift – Monday‑Friday 8:30 a‑5 p Duties & Responsibilities Order Picker I Verify quantity and product being picked is accurate Use RF handheld barcode scanner to process product while picking Sort, consolidate, and drop off products to assigned packing stations for packaging Ensure quality control standards and practices are occurring (recording errors, inspecting parts for damage, correcting shortages and wrong parts, and using QC forms) Meet and exceed daily productivity and quality standards Record daily productivity on progress control boards per Lean philosophy Operate an order picker, stand‑up reach truck, and fork truck to pick product from the warehouse Be willing to be cross‑trained in other areas in the warehouse as needed Be able to lift up to 50 lb as part of the job function while using safe lifting requirements Perform within the company safety program and policies Order Picker II Complete daily equipment checks and log into assigned equipment Follow instructions from the order scheduler and ensure parts are picked accurately Ensure correct part numbers and quantities are picked and transferred to the packing station Maintain a high level of accuracy with minimal errors Work under close supervision, seeking assistance when needed Meet daily pick‑rate or productivity targets Be able to lift up to 50 lb as part of the job function while using safe lifting requirements Order Picker III Mentor the picking team to ensure daily targets and orders are completed efficiently Resolve any picking discrepancies or inventory issues and escalate when necessary Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards Monitor equipment maintenance and ensure all equipment is in working order Provide feedback and coaching to lower‑level employees Optimize picking strategies to reduce errors and improve overall productivity Coordinate with other departments (packing, inventory, shipping) for smooth order fulfillment Be able to lift up to 50 lb as part of the job function while using safe lifting requirements Experience Order Picker I Previous experience with a barcode scanning system/handheld preferred Forklift certification preferred (order picker, reach truck); must be able to pass the forklift certification test Must be a self‑starter, motivated and focused to work independently within the established perimeters assigned Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively Some computer skills and basic math skills needed Must be able to work with others and as a team Attention to detail and organizational skills needed Learn lean philosophy within the organization to focus on and participate in continuous improvement & learning to improve processes, efficiencies and increased profitability Order Picker II 0–1 year of experience in warehouse, inventory, or logistics roles Some exposure to order picking or warehouse management systems is a plus Comfortable using basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jack, scanners) Order Picker III 2–4 years of experience in warehouse order picking, inventory, or fulfillment roles Experience with batch picking or managing multiple orders at once Comfortable working with order pick lists and barcode scanners Ability to work without supervision while maintaining productivity Expertise Order Picker I Basic understanding of warehouse operations and order picking Familiarity with inventory systems (e.g., VMU or similar) to log in equipment Ability to read and follow order pick lists Basic knowledge of safety standards and equipment operation Order Picker II Proficient in order picking and using warehouse management systems Strong understanding of inventory locations and picking methods Ability to troubleshoot minor picking discrepancies or equipment issues Knowledge of safety protocols and operating warehouse equipment independently Order Picker III In‑depth knowledge of warehouse picking strategies and inventory management Advanced proficiency in using warehouse systems (e.g., VMU, scanners, WMS) Ability to lead a team of pickers and manage complex order fulfillment Strong problem‑solving skills for addressing picking errors or equipment malfunctions Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred Internal & External Connections Receiving/shipping associates and inventory control team Benefits & Compensation Base pay starts at $19.00 per hour plus a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications & work location This position is located onsite in Belvidere, Illinois In addition to an inclusive compensation package, we offer a comprehensive benefits program including Medical/Dental/Vision, a matching 401(k), tuition reimbursement, volunteer program, wellness activities, employee and family activities throughout the year, and so much more!
