Regional HSE Leader
$150k - $180kIMI plc
IMI plc
At IMI, we're not just creating solutions; we're building careers. So, unlock your potential: do work that matters, grow with us, and be part of a team shaping tomorrow.
Here, you can make a real difference - solving complex engineering challenges that make industries smarter, safer and more sustainable. From the energy that powers homes to the systems that keep the world moving, you'll help create solutions the world depends on.
But it's not just about the work - it's about how you grow. We encourage curiosity, make learning part of everyday life, and give you real opportunities to build new skills and move your career forward.
We believe in nurturing your wellbeing, too, with strong benefits and flexible policies that help you succeed. At IMI, you'll find a supportive, collaborative and inclusive environment where you can truly thrive. Role Overview :
As the Regional Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Leader , you will play a vital role in promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work environment across multiple IMI locations. The Regional HSE Leader is the execution arm of the HSE function across their assigned geography, responsible for translating sector HSE strategies - set by the Sector HSE Directors - into measurable, site-level improvement across every location in the region. This role operates across all sectors present in the geography and serves as a critical two-way conduit between site reality and strategic direction. The role is responsible for executing agreed sector strategy and translating it into effective site-level delivery, while sector strategy and targets remain set at sector level. Where strategic conflicts arise, the postholder escalates for resolution.
The Regional HSE Leader is expected to lead change by providing clear direction, support and accountability to Site HSE Managers, removing barriers, and delivering measurable year-on-year improvement.
Coverage note: The Americas region is covered by two Regional HSE Leader roles. To minimise travel and maximise site time, coverage is allocated primarily by geography and may be adjusted as the site footprint changes (e.g., acquisitions, divestments, reorganisations) to maintain effective oversight and minimise unnecessary travel. This role focuses on North/East & Central US.
Success in this role is measured by impact. The postholder is expected to go beyond process compliance and reporting by thinking critically about what meaningful, lasting change looks like and how to deliver it. This includes identifying root causes behind incidents, constructively challenging established approaches where appropriate, and ensuring corrective actions are followed through to effective resolution.
Work Environment: Hybrid; Approximately 40-50% travel is expected. Prefer candidates located near Chicago, IL or Palmer, MA.

- Track progress against site improvement plans on a monthly basis.
- Report outcomes, not only activities, to the relevant Sector HSE Directors monthly.

- Maintain a clear and current understanding of the performance status of every site in the region.

- Ensure mandatory HSE training requirements are planned, completed and effective across sites in the region (supporting delivery where required).
- Promote consistent safety culture expectations across sites, escalating persistent leadership or behavioural concerns to the relevant Sector HSE Director(s).
- Following each site HSE visit conducted by the Regional HSE Leader, prepare and present a structured findings report using the standard presentation format, submitted to site leadership, the Sector HSE Director, and the Group HSE Director within two weeks of the visit. Reports should include key observations, identified risks, recommended corrective actions and agreed timelines for resolution.
- Act as Lead Auditor for assessments in-region when assigned under the sector assessment programme; support delivery of the agreed annual assessment plan.
- Investigate and analyse accidents and incidents within the region, supporting Site HSE Managers with investigations, identifying root causes, and driving continuous improvement through effective preventive measures.
- Monitor and support the industrial hygiene programme across your region.
- Stay current with industry best practice and emerging regulatory developments, proactively recommending improvements to the wider leadership team.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Change-oriented - focused on delivering meaningful improvement rather than maintaining the status quo.
- Accountable - takes ownership of regional outcomes and leads with clear accountability across the region.
- Proactive - identifies issues early and acts with initiative to address them.
- Credible - trusted by site teams, respected by sector directors.
- Organised - manages a complex multi-site, multi-sector geography without losing sight of priorities.

- Experience working in a metrics-focused environment, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting and analysis.
- Experience operating within a global manufacturing or technology business, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of HSE management systems, environmental and fire processes, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, incident reporting and investigation, auditing, and wider safety systems and processes.
