Assistant Grocery Manager

Responsibilities Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit. Take responsibility for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Grocery team. Coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork. Lead a team that brainstorming to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience. Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Grocery Team. Unload and sort store deliveries. Ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations and verify that other Grocery team members are aware of and following these procedures. Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age and have 1–3 years of retail management experience. Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred. Be dependable, reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Walking up to 3 miles per 8 hours is expected. Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give and receive direction within a team environment. Display an outgoing, friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers. Possess proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, with knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals. Have strong attention to detail and analytical and problem‑solving skills. Be organized and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Be capable of vertically transferring milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs. (from 9” to 62”) for up to 25 hours. Be capable of vertically/horizontally transferring boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. (from 5” to 34”) for up to 5 feet for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance. Be able to perform repetitive squatting, kneeling, and bending to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours. Pay Range The pay range for this position is $18.80 – $26.30 per hour. Pay is determined by applicable experience and qualifications.
