Wayne, PA | Direct Hire | $140,000/year

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting for a direct-hire opportunity in Wayne, PA . Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this senior-level position will lead accounting and financial operations across a complex, multi-company organization with multiple legal entities, joint ventures, business units, and operating locations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multi-entity accounting, consolidated financial reporting, government contract accounting, and regulatory compliance , along with demonstrated experience leading accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities

• Support the CFO in managing finance and accounting operations across multiple companies, joint ventures, and business units.
• Lead the accounting team responsible for general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, billing, revenue recognition, and cash management.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including consolidations, intercompany eliminations, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure financial records are accurate, timely, and maintained in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Prepare financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and contract profitability analyses for executive leadership.
• Analyze financial results and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to the CFO and leadership team.
• Oversee intercompany transactions, allocations, reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting.
• Partner with Operations, Payroll, and Human Resources to ensure accurate contract accounting, administration, billing, and profitability.
• Support cash flow forecasting, working capital, and liquidity management.
• Develop and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Oversee financial administration of significant purchases, capital expenditures, and the corporate credit card program.

Government Contract Accounting & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, SCA , and other applicable federal contracting requirements.
• Oversee direct and indirect cost accounting, including cost pools, allocation methodologies, indirect rates, and provisional billing rates.
• Ensure accurate accounting and billing for cost-reimbursement, time-and-materials, and firm-fixed-price contracts .
• Monitor contract funding, revenue recognition, unbilled receivables, backlog, and contract performance.
• Support incurred cost submissions, forward-pricing proposals, rate calculations, and other government-required financial schedules.

Tax & Audit Responsibilities

• Oversee state and local tax compliance across multiple operating jurisdictions, including filings, reconciliations, payments, and registration requirements.
• Monitor an expanding geographic footprint to identify new state and local tax compliance obligations.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external financial audits, including 401(k), health and welfare benefit plan, insurance policy, and other required audits .
• Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
• CPA highly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of management responsibility and 5 years in a senior-level accounting role .
• Demonstrated experience managing accounting operations across multiple legal entities or business units, multiple states, and OCONUS operations .
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal government contract accounting requirements .
• Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, SCA, indirect-rate structures, and contract billing .
• Experience managing complex month-end and year-end close processes and consolidated financial reporting.
• Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel .
• Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $140,000 annually
