Newport Aquarium House and Grounds (Janitor) Host - Second Shift Part-Time Job Category : House & Grounds Requisition Number : NEWPO007713 Part‑Time On‑site Rate: $14.50 USD per hour Location Showing 1 location Responsibilities Maintain overall cleanliness of Newport Aquarium by completing daily checklists and cleaning tasks. Contribute to overall building maintenance during operation and after hours. Proactively find ways to better the overall Guest Experience. Engage guests with animal facts, information and personal connections through interpretation. Daily garbage, recycling, and compost disposal. Perform deep cleans using specified machines (e.g., pressure washer, carpet extractor, hard floor scrubber). Fulfill House and Grounds duties during after‑hours events. Complete additional cleaning and maintenance tasks assigned by House and Grounds Lead or Supervisor. Qualifications 18 years old or older. Willingness to become Bloodborne Pathogens trained. Knowledge of aquatic life a plus. Friendly, outgoing, and proactive approach. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to work with little to no supervision while remaining motivated and on task. Availability for a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and evenings. Must be able to work between 4:00 pm and 2:00 am (Second Shift). Physical Requirements Successful completion of pre‑employment background check. In good health and capable of performing strenuous or heavy physical labor. No history of allergy related to animals or plants that may interfere with ability to work. Ability to remain on feet for long periods, climb stairs, bend and stoop. Ability to work in all weather conditions. No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance, and agility that might interfere with ability to work. Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
