Program Director, Graduate Nursing

Position Summary The Program Director for Graduate Nursing is a 12‑month faculty administrator position responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating the Master of Science degree programs in Nursing in accordance with Stevenson University, Stevenson University Online, and the Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions policies and procedures. The Director collaborates with the Chief Nurse Administrator and the Nursing Unit Leadership Team to support policy compliance mandated by the State Board of Nursing, Nurse Practice Act, and the program’s accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Program Director fulfills all faculty responsibilities and maintains an 18‑hour contact teaching load per calendar year. Education/Experience Doctorate in nursing or related field and a Master’s degree in Nursing required. Minimum five years of college‑level teaching experience and preference for prior academic administration. Must hold an active, unencumbered state RN license (Maryland) or be eligible for licensure in Maryland and have multi‑state practice privilege. Knowledge of AACN Essentials, CCNE accreditation standards, State Board of Nursing standards, and ability to ensure compliance and produce accreditation reports. Ability to recruit, coach, manage, support, and develop faculty. Effective collaboration with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations. Ability to build partnerships with clinical agencies and external organizations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and conflict‑resolution skills with team‑building ability. Commitment to scholarly activity and professional development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel); database and computer skills valued. Experience implementing and assessing competency‑based education (CBE). Expertise in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. Proficient with Blackboard or similar learning platforms. Collaboration with diverse teams for shared resources and space. Proven ability to develop course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, lectures, and workshops. Availability for evening and weekend work. Physical Requirements Medium work: occasional exertion up to 50 lbs; continuous negligible force for moving objects. Requires sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, and repetitive motions. Requires close visual acuity and ability to work extended hours for meetings, events, and weekends. Essential Functions

ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITY

First point of contact for students, faculty, staff on graduate nursing program matters. Investigate academic misconduct reports per university policies. Participate in grade appeal processes as required. Assess program quality based on CCNE and university guidelines. Implement and assess competency‑based education. Develop, implement, and revise program curriculum with faculty and staff. Manage program operating budget and schedule classes in coordination with the Dean, Registrar, and other offices. Hire, mentor, monitor, and evaluate program personnel. Coordinate recruitment, registration, enrollment, and retention initiatives. Attend school and university meetings, serve on the Nursing Unit Leadership Team. Support grant‑writing and scholarly pursuits for academic programs. Engage in professional development workshops, meetings, and conferences. Forge relationships and partnerships with external and internal constituencies. Collaborate with campus offices to align with university goals. Coordinate program events such as the Graduate Research Symposium.

INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY

Teach a total of 18 contact hours per calendar year, mainly online. Prepare and maintain teaching materials, confer with students, assess projects, and supervise independent studies. Regularly evaluate, update, and revise courses. Participate in campus assessment activities and uphold collegial, ethical conduct.

SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY

Develop independent intellectual pursuits, including research, to enhance teaching. Attend professional development workshops, meetings, and talks. Pursue funding sources for scholarly activity.

SERVICE ACTIVITY

Attend faculty/university meetings and nursing ceremonies. Serve on school and university committees and at least one Nursing Unit Working Group. Participate in campus events.
