Title:  UV Tender / Operator in Training 

Reports to:  UV Supervisor

Scope of Position:  The UV Tender / Operator in Training supports the safe, efficient operation of UV production equipment while developing the skills required to become an UV Operator. The position assists with material handling, machine operation, quality inspections, production documentation, cleaning, and routine machine care. As training progresses and competency is demonstrated, the employee will learn machine startup and shutdown, make ready, setups, changeovers, adjustments, troubleshooting, and other operator-level responsibilities under the guidance of an experienced Operator or Supervisor. This position is intended as a developmental pathway to the UV Operator position.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with and, as trained, operate and monitor the UV equipment safely and efficiently
• Review job jackets and verify materials and specifications
• Feed materials and monitor the quality of finished work
• Pack finished goods according to quality and production standards
• Complete production counts and required paperwork
• Perform quality inspections and documentation assigned
• Assist with cleaning, changeovers, and routine machine care
• Notify Operator of equipment issues and assist with machine recovery procedures
• Follow all safety protocols, including the safe handling of UV inks and chemicals
• Develop proficiency in machine operation to progress toward Operator position includes learning:

• To perform setups and machine adjustments as training progresses
• Inspect work for compliance with quality standards and promptly report defected material
• Non-conforming products and eventually apply QA inspection tags to affected loads
• Machine startup and shutdown procedures and basic operations
• Make ready procedures
• Troubleshooting techniques
• To make minor adjustments to support consistent run rate and quality
• To assist Operator in verifying job setup, customer samples, first piece approval and required documentation 

• Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the shift
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols at all times
• Support line clearance and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Line Clearance (LC) logs
• Perform any other duties as required

Qualifications:

Required

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to lean manufacturing equipment and processes
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 20 lbs and stand, kneel, and bend for extend periods
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment

Preferred

• Experience operating UV printing, coating, or curing equipment
  • Specifically, Ketchview, Autobond laminator, Lamina mounting, or Sakurai UV press machines
