Men's Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach

Position Assistant Coach for Varsity Soccer Season Information Season starts August 10, 2026 through mid November 2026. Practices 4-5 weekday afternoons; additional games on weekday afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends. Job Responsibilities All assistant coaches report directly to their head coach and must follow procedures of the high school’s athletic program and those of the International and California Interscholastic Federation. Provide clear communication for student‑athletes and families regarding expectations and philosophy; assist conflicts after contests. Assist in the total development of all student‑athletes by using positive methods and creating a meaningful practice structure. Use a holistic approach when evaluating a student‑athlete, considering skill, character, integrity, leadership, coachability, and love for the sport. Foster an environment that develops leadership qualities on and off the field; select team captains and advisory committee members based on character and leadership. Detailed Duties and Responsibilities Administer practices that demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the game and develop players’ individual areas of growth. Teach student‑athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of the designated sport throughout the season. Assist in the academic performance of the student‑athletes. Follow league policies, site procedures, and rules. Ensure safety and secure the team before, during, and after events; ride the bus with the team. Maintain communication with Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal; solve problems at the school level. Comply with time constraints for practice and contest schedules, including holidays/Saturdays, and off‑season schedules. Qualifications 2+ years of coaching experience at high school, AAU, or head/assistant collegiate level; recent experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the game with ability to increase student IQ and develop players’ growth. Proven record of developing teamwork, chemistry, discipline, family‑like environment, and positive reinforcement. Motivator who can develop the social, emotional, and mental health of student‑athletes. Visionary to implement a winning program and develop extraordinary student‑athletes. Ability to run effective and efficient practices. History of positive staff, student, and administrative relationships; ability to teach, organize, and supervise assistants. Emphasis on sportsmanship, academic excellence, positive attitudes, and character. Ability to teach, enforce, advocate, and model appropriate behavior, character, and educational values. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills. Proven history of promoting athletes who qualify under NCAA Clearinghouse standards for scholarships. Must hold ASEP/NFHS, CPR, First Aid, and Concussion certification. Maintain appropriate coaching certification and authorization. Qualified under San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, considering applicants with arrest and conviction records. Include letter of interest, current resume, and three references in application. Salary Salary range is $4,000-$5,500 depending on experience and team level.
