Join our team of problem solvers as we write new chapters of spaceflight history. This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. You will work in a small, passionate team of engineers and technicians on compressors and expanders, addressing design, analysis, testing, assembly, fabrication, and part non‑conformance issues. The work has a direct impact on safe human spaceflight. Special Mentions Relocation provided Travel expected up to 15% of the time Responsibilities Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with minimal oversight as part of the Zero Boil Off Turbomachinery Team Apply systems engineering fundamentals across the development cycle – concept, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test Understand and manage key Technical Performance Metrics for the system Support the development and execution of component and subsystem analyses and tests Coordinate plans for subsystem‑level verification tests and analyses Spearhead organization and preparation for reviews Ensure timely updates and communication of system‑level architecture diagrams and schematics Guide the team to balance rapid development with standard engineering processes Lead trade studies, component design/integration, first‑order analysis, test support, and supplier interface as opportunities arise Mentor and educate junior Blue Origin employees on systems engineering processes and methods Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering Experience working on highly engineered products in a rapid development environment Experience with cryogenic fluids Understanding and passion for systems engineering principles and practices (requirements definition, traceability, functional decomposition, verification, validation, ICD creation, configuration management, SEMP) Participation in technical and programmatic customer interactions that require expertise Experience working with other project members to drive progress toward milestones Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area 7+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering Experience with turbomachinery production, qualification testing, and flight operations Experience with requirements development/management tools (DOORS Next Gen, JAMA, etc.) Previous customer‑facing roles with experience presenting to and interacting with customers Compensation WA applicants: $121,023.00 – $169,432.20. Other site ranges may differ.
