Commercial Electrician

Role Overview Premier Electrical Staffing is hiring a mid-level Commercial Electrician. This is a full-time role based in Fairfax, Virginia. The compensation range is $40–$71k per year. Responsibilities Layout, install, repair or replace electrical wiring, equipment, components and fixtures using hand and power tools; based on job specifications, electrical drawings and local codes. Inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety rules. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdowns and correct problems. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures to ensure compatibility and safety. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including circuit tracers, volt meters, megger, proximity testers and ohmmeters. Install panel boards, transformers, motor control centers and motors. Work from ladders, aerial lifts, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, outlet/junction boxes, fixtures and fixture whips. Place conduit, pipes or tubing inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Maintain trade‑specific tools; perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects. Notify the foreman/crew leader, superintendent or management if continued operation of equipment could be hazardous or could cause a safety violation. Qualifications 2+ years of Commercial/Industrial Electrician experience. Employment Information Full-time position. Location: Fairfax, Virginia, on-site.
