Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) / Medical Technologists (MT) to support the VA Togus Maine Healthcare System in Augusta, Maine. This is a long-term federal contract opportunity supporting laboratory services for Veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The selected professionals will perform complex laboratory testing procedures across multiple laboratory disciplines, ensuring accurate diagnostic results and maintaining the highest standards of patient care and laboratory quality.

Position Details

Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) / Medical Technologist (MT)

Facility: VA Togus Maine Healthcare System (VA Maine Medical Center)

Location: 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330

Contract Duration:

• Base Period: 1 Year
• Four (4) Option Years
• Total Potential Duration: Up to 5 Years

Number of Openings: 5

Schedule:

• 40 Hours per Week
• 5 x 8-Hour Shifts
• Rotating Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays
• Meal Break: 30 Minutes
• No On-Call Requirement

Expected Credentialing Timeline:

• Approximately 6–8 Weeks

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited institution.

Completion of an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology program or equivalent qualifying education and experience.

Licensure

• Active Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
• Any U.S. state license accepted.

Certifications

One of the following national certifications is required:

• MT (ASCP)
• MLS (ASCP)
• CLS
• Equivalent nationally recognized certification

Additional Certifications

• BLS required
• ACLS preferred

Experience Requirements

Candidates must possess:

• Minimum 3 years of recent Clinical Laboratory experience.
• Experience working independently in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Strong competency in:
  • Clinical Chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Coagulation
  • Urinalysis
  • Blood Bank / Transfusion Services
  • Microbiology
