The Registered Nurse delivers care to Adult and Critical Care patients by utilizing the nursing process and Critical Care nursing standards of practice. The nurse maintains competency and applies scientific knowledge utilizing evidence based practice necessary to meet patient needs. Demonstrates progression of professional development and is supportive of the hospital's mission, vision and values.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesUtilizes evidence-based practice in the delivery of patient careParticipates with quality initiatives, research or evidence-based activitiesAssumes responsibility for seeking data to support care givenDemonstrates the commitment to ongoing evaluation of quality and effectiveness of nursing practice in Critical Care.Supports unit standard of practice and performance improvement measures to enhance quality of care and service to the patient.Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital's compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.Develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families through communication and acknowledgement of patient /family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomesCreates constructive partnerships with peers, professional nurses and other disciplines to achieve positive patient outcomesProvides and gives courteous service to patients, visitors, staff and other disciplines both internal/external customers. For purposes of the American with Disabilities Act, "Job Duties" are essential job functions.QualificationsRequired:Graduate from an accredited or approved school of nursing.Current RN LicenseOne year of medical surgical or critical care experience required.Critical care or ED course preferred.The RN must be knowledgeable of current nursing practices.Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Preferred:Bachelor Degree preferredCPI Certification preferredPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificationPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors.
