Position Summary Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting. Location 800 North Maitland Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751 Hours Monday – Thursday, 5 pm–9 pm and Friday, 3 pm–7 pm Responsibilities Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues. Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities. Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members. Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff. Gathers patient data through interview and observation. Assists patients and families with preparation for examination. Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice. Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies. Acts as liaison to schedule and provide scheduling information for specialty testing or physician consultation. Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment. Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under provider direction. Adheres to and assures compliance with Orlando Health policies, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellent standards. Demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and adheres to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies. Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assess data appropriate to the age‑specific needs of patients in the assigned department or unit. Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards. Practices efficient use of supplies. Assists the business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients. Qualifications Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient‑care setting). Licensure/Certification: Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification. Maintains current certification or registration by one of the following agencies: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health Career Association (NHA). Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or American Allied Health (AAH).
