Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist facilitates the performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures by providing essential support during surgical operations. This role involves managing instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgical procedures while ensuring quality patient care and maintaining a sterile environment.

Essential Functions

• Verify the surgical procedure to be performed with consent forms and transport the patient to the designated operating room.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures and anticipate the surgeon's need for additional supplies.
• Conduct counts with the circulator before the operation and prior to the closure of incisions.
• Prepare sterile dressings and secure them after incision closure.
• Check supplies and equipment required for surgical procedures and obtain appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for the operation.
• Set up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions necessary for the procedure.
• Assist in draping the sterile field.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist other team members in cleaning the operating room for turnover and preparing for the next patient.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required
• Relevant acute care experience: Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Preferred
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification: Required
• Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists: Required

Additional Information

This position involves daytime shifts and may require floating to multiple locations as needed. Experience with EPIC is required.
