Inventory Control Clerk Floater-1st Shift

Shift: Monday through Friday 1st shift 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Job Purpose: The Inventory Control Clerk Floater will assume inventory control clerk responsibilities across multiple Illinois facilities. The floater will fill gaps in work schedules and rotate between buildings. This role involves conducting cycle counts, bin location audits, researching and reconciling inventory discrepancies, and working with the Inventory Supervisor/Manager on inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in stockroom, warehouse, or yard. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Perform physical counts of inventory items to maintain accurate inventory. Count and reconcile randomly chosen or selected part numbers and/or locations on a daily basis. Accurately input inventory control data to ensure inventory integrity. Complete necessary documentation thoroughly, accurately, and on time. Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve discrepancies. Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager. Spend 80% or more of the workday performing inventory‑related activities in the warehouse using an RF gun or tablet; 20% or less of the workday is spent working at a computer terminal. Travel to and assist at other facilities as needed. Additional Responsibilities Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Ensure compliance with inventory processes and procedures, and contractual obligations. Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets. Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation. Qualifications Minimum 1‑3 months related experience and/or training in inventory control. Minimum 1‑3 months related experience and/or training in a warehouse environment. Prior experience operating material handling equipment is required. Order selector, cherry picker/high lift experience is preferred; willingness to be certified and use is required. Experience using WMS software is a plus (Synapse preferred). PC literate with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access. Requirements Reliable transportation. Working cell phone (to receive daily work assignment). Ability to start at any RJW Illinois location upon notification. Education And/or Experience Required High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write emails. Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets. Forklift certification is a plus. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine root cause of problems and determine corrective action. Computer Skills Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite for writing emails and creating reports. Physical Demands Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Must be able to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl. Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others. Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required. Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time. Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones. Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
