Vascular Sonographer

Location MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, 1201 Grand, Saint Louis, Missouri. Job Summary Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies in the vascular lab. Key Responsibilities Perform ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines. Perform imaging and non-imaging arterial studies of the upper and lower extremities, digits, transcranial Doppler studies, venous imaging of the neck and extremities, carotid imaging, and bypass/pseudoaneurysm studies. Communicate and explain exam procedures to patients and family members, ensuring informed consent. Assess patient’s medical, cardiac, or vascular status by taking a history before the exam. Assemble charts, enter information into the PACS/EMR, and record imaging studies for review by the Medical Director. Complete accurate patient billing, entering charges daily with no more than one error per week. Support department functions, including development of new diagnostic testing procedures and participation in equipment evaluation. Educate residents and other medical or technical staff on technical aspects, indications, and limitations. Obtain and maintain CEUs and specialty certifications. Practice safety and infection control policies, including universal precautions, waste disposal, equipment disinfection, and high‑level disinfection. Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, adhere to dress code, display ID badge, and troubleshoot equipment issues. Provide service excellence through care, courtesy, effective communication, confidentiality, and collaboration. Minimize costs by scheduling efficiently and managing supplies. Attend departmental meetings and incorporate quality assessment into daily work for performance improvement. Provide age‑appropriate care, assess developmental needs, and involve families in decision making. Assist with restraint, pain, and abuse assessments, reporting incidents as required by hospital policies. Assist in day‑to‑day department operations, clerical duties, and ensure compliance with safety surveys. Qualifications Completion of a Sonography program and at least two ARDMS or CCI registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Echo, or Vascular. Work Conditions Regular full‑time position, day shift. Shift differentials available for night, weekend, and additional shifts. Benefits Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $20,000 with 1 year experience; up to $15,000 for less than 1 year, payable within 30 days of start date. Pay Range: $35.81–$53.72 per hour; daily pay available.
