Behavioral Health Director

We are looking for compassionate, dedicated, and experienced healthcare professionals to join our team! Behavioral Health Director Camden Family Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Behavioral Health Director to lead and expand our integrated behavioral health services across multiple clinic locations. This is a unique opportunity for a clinically skilled leader who enjoys both direct patient care and program management. The Behavioral Health Director serves as a working manager, maintaining a clinical caseload while providing strategic, operational, and clinical oversight for a multidisciplinary behavioral health team of up to 10 professionals located across several clinic sites. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving underserved populations, advancing integrated care models, and developing high‑performing teams. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Program Management Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for behavioral health services across multiple clinic locations. Supervise and mentor a team of behavioral health providers. Conduct regular performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development activities. Establish and monitor productivity, quality, patient access, and clinical outcome metrics. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance behavioral health services and improve patient outcomes. Ensure compliance with FQHC, HRSA, state licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with medical, dental, pharmacy, and operational leaders to advance integrated care initiatives. Participate in organizational leadership meetings and strategic planning activities. Clinical Responsibilities Maintain an active patient caseload providing behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, and crisis intervention services. Deliver evidence‑based behavioral health services to patients across the lifespan. Support providers in managing complex behavioral health cases. Promote trauma‑informed and culturally competent care practices. Participate in case reviews and interdisciplinary care team meetings. Quality & Compliance Monitor clinical documentation, quality indicators, and patient outcomes. Ensure adherence to organizational policies, payer requirements, and best practices. Support implementation of behavioral health quality improvement initiatives. Assist with preparation for audits, grant‑writing, surveys, and accreditation reviews. Workforce Development Recruit, onboard, and retain behavioral health staff. Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture. Identify training opportunities and support continuing education initiatives. Qualifications Education Master's Degree or Doctorate in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field required. Licensure Active, unrestricted clinical licensure in the state of practice required, such as an LICSW. Experience Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible behavioral health experience. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience. Experience working within an FQHC, community health center, integrated care setting, or safety‑net healthcare environment strongly preferred. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Knowledge of integrated primary care and behavioral health models. Understanding of HRSA/FQHC regulations and quality reporting requirements. Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities. Ability to balance direct clinical care with administrative leadership responsibilities. Experience with electronic health records and data‑driven decision making. Commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations.
