Retail Shortage Control - Part Time

Join our team as a Shortage Control Associate and contribute to a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service. The role directly impacts the store's security and the overall shopping experience by maintaining a strong presence at entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas, mitigating theft, and creating a safe environment for customers and associates. Responsibilities As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), you will: Maintain a professional appearance, wear the designated dress standards, and use the provided radio and earpiece. Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm, confident, and loud friendly greeting, promoting a sense of control and security. Create and maintain a secure environment by reducing opportunities for theft. Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards. Support the Manager on Duty by identifying and reporting theft incidents and suspicious activities. Provide support and guidance in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes. Role‑model safety as a top priority and address any unsafe practices promptly. Knowledge and Communication Possess mastery of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction. Effectively communicate information about theft prevention during store rallies, collaborating with the Manager on Duty. Analyze and comprehend business trends related to shortages and theft. Qualifications 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations (preferred). Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong communication skills with customers and co‑workers. Strong leadership skills that support fostering productive business relationships. Excellent problem‑solving skills and disciplined decision‑making in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
