Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Adult Development and Aging 2026-2027

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Department of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Adult Development and Aging to begin in August 2027. This position is designed to complement and expand our department’s existing strengths in developmental psychology, allowing us to offer a comprehensive, life-course perspective that spans from early childhood through late adulthood. The successful candidate will maintain a cohesive research program that meaningfully engages undergraduate students. We welcome applications from scholars exploring a wide range of topics within the psychology of aging. We are interested in research that spans multiple levels of analysis, including individual processes such as cognitive resilience and emotional regulation; social contexts such as connectivity and support systems; and structural influences, including the psychological impacts of the longevity economy or how \u0027cumulative disadvantages\u0027 stemming from systemic inequalities in education, housing, and healthcare shape the life course. We are interested in scholars whose research incorporates critical and anti-colonial perspectives—challenging Western-centric \u0027universal\u0027 models of development and centering the lived experiences of marginalized communities. The candidate will contribute to the core curriculum by teaching Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods. Furthermore, the candidate will develop intermediate courses for our Individual, Social, and Cultural Processes or Cognitive and Behavioral Processes requirements and advanced seminars in their area of expertise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching , utilizing evidence-based, inclusive pedagogies to create a classroom environment where students from all backgrounds can flourish. This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a research leave prior to tenure review of either a full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. To enable a smooth transition to Holy Cross, new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receive start-up funding to support their research and professional development and have a one-course reduction in their first year of teaching (i.e., 2-2). This position offers full benefits and a starting salary of $102,500. QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and undergraduate teaching as well as a commitment to inclusive pedagogies. A Ph.D. in developmental psychology or a related field is required by the beginning of the appointment.
