Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Performs clinical laboratory testing and reports accurate and timely patient results in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services. Performs waived, moderate-complexity, and high-complexity testing in accordance with laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements. Essential duties include performing laboratory testing across multiple clinical laboratory sections, processing specimens and reporting accurate and timely patient results, performing waived, moderately complex, and high-complexity testing as assigned, troubleshooting automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment, recognizing and investigating unusual or unexpected patient results, serving as a resource to other laboratory staff for problem-solving and result interpretation, following established quality control, quality assurance, safety, and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate documentation and complying with laboratory policies and procedures, assisting with maintaining adequate supplies and notifying leadership of equipment, reagent, or supply concerns, participating in competency assessments, continuing education, and required training, maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA requirements, and providing professional and collaborative service to patients, providers, and other healthcare team members.

Schedule: Full-time position with variable scheduling based on department needs. Participates in a rotating holiday schedule. Participates in the Laboratory on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Must be available to respond to call-back needs and report to the laboratory when required. Schedule and on-call assignments are subject to department operational needs.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Must be ASCP registered or hold an equivalent recognized certification. New graduates must obtain the required MT/MLS certification within 6 months of hire. Ability to perform testing in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment. Strong critical-thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Preferred qualifications include previous clinical laboratory experience, experience with automated laboratory instrumentation, and experience in multiple laboratory disciplines.
