The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for manufacturing projects, including materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to accurately determine project scope and requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to gather necessary information for bid preparation.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities within project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
• Maintain and update a comprehensive database of historical cost data for future reference and analysis.
• Present prepared estimates to management and clients, clearly articulating the basis of the cost calculations.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to accurately assess material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Experience with ERP systems and specialized estimating software.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
• Certification in estimating (e.g., CEP, CPE)
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
• Proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Ability to speak a second language relevant to the company's supply chain or customer base
