Senior Electrical Engineer – Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Job ID: 507329 Posted since: 21-May-2026 Organization: Smart Infrastructure Experience level: Experienced Professional Job type: Full-time (Hybrid Remote/Office) Employment type: Permanent Location: Wendell, North Carolina, United States of America Responsibilities Analyze customer technical specifications, one-line diagrams, and schematic diagrams for application of Siemens Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear products and associated protection and control systems. Develop solutions that meet customer expectations in a cost‑effective and timely manner. Create all engineering documents for customer approval and manufacturing of MV switchgear, including accurate one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material. Serve as a technical project leader, guiding a team of engineers, designers, and drafters. Provide factory support during manufacturing to ensure designs are correctly produced, and offer technical support to service teams and customers as required. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Four to seven years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution products and systems, with emphasis on MV switchgear. Solid understanding of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage distribution products, and ability to share this knowledge. Ability to analyze customer technical specifications and apply appropriate product solutions. Experience with electrical drafting using AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or similar software. Proven ability to read and understand one‑line diagrams and evaluate electrical schematics for errors or improvements. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continuous and permanent basis without a company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred). Experience using ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switchgear design solutions. Ability to multi‑task and manage important workloads and business demands. Experience with electrical design for Air Insulated MV switchgear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), particularly with Siemens switchgear products. Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and able to adopt a culture of quality. SAP experience with parts and populating bill of materials. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
