Food Service Aide

Department: 11903 Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital - Food and Nutrition Status: Part time Benefits Eligible: No Hours Per Week: 0 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Must be able to work 3:30 - 7:30 pm or 4:00 - 8:00 pm 2 nights a week and every other weekend. Rotating holidays. Pay Range: $18.85 - $28.30 Major Responsibilities Performs the warewashing for the department meal service program in accordance with department policy and in compliance with Board of Health Regulations. Demonstrates teamwork in the performance of duties. Completes warewashing within the established timeframes. Stores all serving ware (china, trays, flatware, etc.) to meet the operational needs of the individual areas. Washes and sanitizes pots and pans in accordance with department procedure and Board of Health Regulations. Helps to keep the dish machine clean and sanitized. Prepares patient meals and nourishments that meet the prescribed diet order and customer expectations. Assembles meal trays accurately while maintaining a high standard for tray appearance and adhering to infection control standards. Demonstrates a commitment to satisfying customer needs and exceeding customer expectations. Uses A.I.D.E.T. Collaborates with hospital departments and fellow associates to meet customer expectations for service. Follows the Behaviors of Excellence. Assembles and delivers unit supply items and fills out corresponding paperwork. Practices safety and sanitation guidelines according to Hospital and Health Department regulations. Collaborates with hospital departments and fellow associates to meet customer expectations. Follows infection control procedures. Restock assigned area as needed. Removes garbage and food waste containers from all areas of the department in accordance with department policy and Board of Health Regulations. Performs daily and special cleaning assignments in accordance with department policy and Board of Health Regulations. Washes and sanitizes pots and pans in accordance with department procedure and Board of Health Regulations. Adheres to the dress code including the use of hairnets and non‑skid shoes. Participates in the department’s Performance Improvement Plan to improve key processes and result areas. Actively participates in establishing individual development goals. Actively participates in the department’s initiatives to improve key processes, key result areas and customer satisfaction. Collaborates with hospital departments and fellow associates to meet customer expectations. Demonstrates a supportive positive attitude. Participates in area inservices, training, orientation sessions and meetings. Completes all online safety modules including Business Conduct and HIPAA and others as assigned. Attends the annual Safety Fair. Demonstrates customer focused behaviors in day to day interactions with all customer groups. Addresses customer concerns within the framework of the position. Practices Service Recovery as needed. Acts as a positive role model for peers and fellow associates. Assists with the training of new associates as needed. Delivers and retrieves patient trays within the designated time frame in order to provide a smooth workflow with warewashing. Visits all patients on assigned units to assist in the ordering process and pick‑up trays in a timely manner using AIDET and proper infection control practices. Accurately and concisely documents patient fluid and meal intakes. Education / Experience Required 16 years of age. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Good level communication skills. Speaks & writes English. Good math skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions This position spends 100% of the time on their feet. Ability to rotate positions throughout the area. Ability to rotate shifts between the hours of 6:30 AM – 8:30 PM. Ability to lift and push 25 pounds. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
