Senior Director, Network Security Engineering

Salary: $136,500 - 350,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
• We are looking for 15+ years of experience in information security or a related technology discipline; experience in the securities or financial services sector is a plus.
• We need 10+ years in network security engineering and/or platform engineering, including at least 5 years leading teams and delivering enterprise-scale security platforms.
• We seek deep hands-on expertise with network security technologies such as NGFWs, IDS/IPS, WAF/proxy/SWG, NAC, VPN/remote access, segmentation, SASE components, and cloud-native network security controls.
• We expect proven ability to design, test, and certify solutions in a lab environment, producing implementation standards, test plans, evidence, and operational runbooks that meet risk and regulatory expectations.
• We need strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate engineering tradeoffs into clear decisions, timelines, and risk-based outcomes.
• We require proficiency with Jira for backlog management and delivery tracking, including epics, stories, sprint planning, dashboards, and reporting, along with experience in Agile/DevOps delivery models.
• We value experience using automation and modern engineering practices such as AI, scripting, APIs, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD to improve consistency, speed, and auditability of network security changes.

• We will own engineering delivery for the enterprise network security portfolio, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, secure web gateways, proxy, network access control, zero trust architectures, cloud security controls, and network threat detection solutions.
• We will lead the full engineering lifecycle from architecture and design through build, integration, and production rollout, ensuring our solutions are secure by design, resilient, and scalable.
• We will run formal lab validations for network security technologies, including design verification, performance testing, regression testing, and certification sign-off before production deployment.
• We will drive and maintain network security and cloud engineering governance, delivery management, and prioritization using Agile practices and Jira.
• We will build and guide a high-performing network security engineering organization with clear standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and close collaboration across Network, Cloud, IAM, SOC, and application teams.
• We will define and monitor engineering health metrics such as availability, performance, change failure rate, MTTR, policy compliance, and capacity, partnering with operations and the SOC to improve platform reliability and detection effectiveness.
• We will evaluate emerging technologies and vendor capabilities through proof-of-concepts and lab testing, and provide recommendations that balance risk reduction, user experience, operational overhead, and total cost of ownership.
• We will support budget planning and vendor management for the engineering portfolio, including licensing, support, hardware and cloud consumption, to ensure investments align with roadmap commitments and production support needs.
• We will modernize network security engineering through automation and standardization, including policy-as-code, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD for security changes, and repeatable deployment patterns across on-premises and cloud environments.
• We will lead disciplined change management for engineering releases, including implementation plans, test evidence, rollback procedures, stakeholder communications, and post-implementation validation in partnership with operations and risk.
