About the Role We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to oversee and continuously enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) for our Houston manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring API and ISO compliance, coordinating audits, overseeing corrective action processes, reporting quality metrics, monitoring supplier performance, and promoting awareness of customer and industry quality requirements. The Quality Manager provides direct leadership and oversight to Quality Inspectors and works cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Group QHSE to maintain compliance, strengthen processes, and drive measurable quality performance improvements. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in API standards, structured quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies, along with proven leadership capability in a production-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain strong working knowledge of API and ISO standards within structured Quality Management Systems. Demonstrate expertise in root cause analysis, corrective action management, audit leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. Apply practical inspection experience, traceability controls, and a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and product quality requirements. Exhibit effective supervisory and coaching capabilities with a focus on team development and accountability. Communicate and influence effectively across employees, customers, suppliers, and third‑party auditors. Exercise sound judgment, maintain organizational discipline, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Adapt to evolving business demands and drive cross‑functional initiatives to successful completion. Travel as required to support operational needs. API / ISO / QMS Responsibilities Serve as the Management Representative for the Houston facility, ensuring full compliance with API and ISO requirements. Lead and support API recertification activities, including audit participation, corrective action review and approval, and MyCerts submissions to maintain the API Monogram license. Act as the qualified internal auditor for the Houston facility and conduct scheduled internal audits in accordance with API requirements. Schedule and facilitate Management Review Meetings, coordinate virtual sessions, document proceedings, and ensure compliance with API Spec Q1 Section 6.5. Review and monitor external normative documents, conduct gap analyses, and communicate applicable changes across the organization. Participate on the Manufacturing Material Review Board, perform root cause analyses, and oversee corrective action implementation. Utilize appropriate analytical tools and techniques to identify trends and support data‑driven decision‑making. Conduct periodic QMS evaluations to assess suitability, adequacy, effectiveness, quality objectives, policies, and improvement opportunities. Maintain authority over the application and removal of the API Monogram for the Houston facility. Promote awareness of customer requirements and quality standards across all departments. Prepare and present weekly and monthly quality metrics to management. Ensure training programs are maintained to support personnel qualifications and regulatory compliance. Maintain oversight of special process controls in accordance with QSPM requirements. Approve additions, revisions, and discontinuations to the Master Document List. Oversee SAP implementation and related quality system integration. Conduct supplier evaluations and collaborate with Purchasing to enhance supplier performance. Support HS&E management system requirements and perform additional duties as assigned by leadership. What We’re Looking For A four‑year degree in Materials, Engineering, Quality Sciences, or a related field is required, or equivalent experience as determined by management. A minimum of five years of Quality Management System experience in a corporate or manufacturing environment is required. Strong knowledge of API standards, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement methodologies is essential. Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience managing, coaching, and developing quality personnel, is required. Proven ability to develop departmental plans, manage resources, and align quality initiatives with operational objectives is essential. Strong organizational skills and sound decision‑making ability are necessary to effectively manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and influencing skills are required, including the ability to engage with customers, suppliers, and third‑party auditors on quality and product matters. Practical inspection knowledge and traceability control experience, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product quality requirements, are required. A results‑driven mindset, structured problem‑solving capability, and the ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives are critical. Willingness to travel as business needs require is expected.
