Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified professional to join our surgical services team. This role involves assisting surgeons in a variety of surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient care quality.

Shift Details

Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (06:30 - 15:00)

Location: Local facility in city, state

Key Responsibilities

• Surgical Services: Assist surgeons during various surgeries and procedures, determining their needs to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Sterile Field Maintenance: Establish and maintain a sterile field, including sterile tables, tools, and patient draping.
• Preparation: Select and prepare necessary supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure, ensuring they are in working order.
• Clerical Tasks: Perform tasks such as retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic health records, while preparing and documenting inventory of surgical supplies.
• Safety Protocols: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, inspecting and calibrating equipment, and reporting any malfunctions.
• Compliance: Ensure strict confidentiality of patient health information and adhere to all regulatory standards and policies to ensure the highest level of patient safety and care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training as a scrub tech.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
• Surgical Technician Certification (TS-C, CST, or NRST) is required for incentive eligibility.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent relevant experience.

Skills and Knowledge

• General understanding of surgical tools, procedures, and equipment.
• Ability to interpret and apply information from written, oral, and diagrammatic sources.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work Environment

This position may require occasional floating to other areas within the same campus. Call is required approximately 4-5 days per month, including weekends.

Patient Care Details

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics.
• Typical daily census of 50-60 procedures.
