Stock Clerk, Central Warehouse

Warehouse ClerkThe purpose of this classification is to receive, store, and distribute of a large and varied stock of materials, equipment, parts, and supplies for the City.Examples of duties include:Leading warehouse operations, programs and work activities in accordance with established policies, priorities and work schedules; monitoring operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and safety procedures.Receiving and distributing orders for a variety of supplies and equipment, including hazardous materials; preparing and submitting purchase orders; forwarding invoices; verifying accuracy and completeness of incoming orders; identifying incorrect or damaged items; unpacking and storing incoming supplies; loading and unloading to proper storage area; distributing supplies and equipment to requesting department; maintaining computer files and documentation for all purchases, receipts and distributions.Monitoring inventory levels of supplies and equipment; maintaining adequate levels of supplies to ensure availability; notifying appropriate personnel regarding stock levels of all overages, shortages, or out-of-stock items; overseeing and participating in periodic physical inventories; entering inventory stock data into computer database; completing inventory reports and maintaining related files.Conducting daily inspections of warehouse facilities and equipment; cleaning warehouse facilities and equipment; performing general maintenance of warehouse and grounds.Communicating with supervisor, City employees, vendors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.Preparing or completing various forms, reports, pick tickets, material transfers, expediting letters, purchase order logs or other documentation of service activities; forwarding, retaining, or filing, as appropriate.Receiving various forms, reports, delivery tickets, pick tickets, purchase orders, reference materials, or other documentation; reviewing, processing, forwarding or retaining as appropriate.Operating a forklift, front-end loader, pick-up and flatbed trucks, pallet jacks, hand dollies, a personal computer, general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.Must be able to operate a forklift safely.Typical qualifications include:High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of experience in warehouse operations or operating a forklift; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver's license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
