Director of Product REMOTE, US TIME ZONES

COY is the revenue operating system forcreator-owned businesses. We give Creators the tools to own their audience and turn it into a real, growing business, without handing control to a platform that treats them as another piece of inventory. We are a small, senior team moving fast against a large opportunity, building an AI-native product and company from the ground up.

About the role

This is the person who owns tactical product definition at COY end-to-end. Today the founders are still in the middle of Product; this role exists to change that. You will take product definition off the founder's plate and become the sole, trusted owner who turns signals from Creators and agency partners into shippable, well-specified products that align with the business. You are the connective tissue in a small, senior team: a hands-on CTO and engineering team who own build and quality assurance, a designer and a design system, and a lean, forward deployed business function that lives with our Creators and drives deals.

This is a hands-on maker role, not a management role today. You will have the opportunity to build a team as the business grows, but you will always be a player-coach. A normal day might have you scoping a feature in the morning to help close a deal and testing that feature's release a couple of hours later. We are AI-native and we mean it: we expect you to be actively keeping up with the technology, solving problems with agentic tools, and getting more done yourself rather than delegating to a team of five without these tools.

Responsibilities

• Take product definition off the founder's plate and own it end-to-end: turn product discovery and business goals into clear, measurable outcomes and the acceptance criteria that define done, not feature lists. Get projects to a shovel-ready state, by working with the CTO, before engineering commits it to a sprint.
• Turn thinking into specs, on repeat. The value is not a sharp idea in a 60-minute meeting; it is a repeatable process that reliably converts raw discussion and discovery into clear, buildable specs every time. You are deeply process-oriented, and you know how to put AI to work as part of that process, as a system you have designed rather than a one-off.
• Run continuous discovery of various personas and agency partners: structured interviews that end in real signal and commitments, not polite enthusiasm. Turn what you learn into specs the team can build.
• Prototype to communicate. Use AI build tools and Figma to get an idea demo-able quickly and pressure-test it, working with our designer and design system rather than reinventing them.
• Own the business side of shipping. Engineering owns build and quality; you own defining the outcomes and acceptance criteria up front, testing the release against them, and giving the final business sign-off before a feature reaches users.
• Make outcomes measurable. Own product instrumentation and analytics in Amplitude and COY analytics suite so we know whether the work moved the number instead of assuming it did.
• Sweat launch quality! Our users feel every rough edge and a broken experience costs us real trust; you care about reliability and polish and are the check that keeps a launch trustworthy alongside Engineering.
• Partner with the business team on live deals: recognize a deal-blocking product gap, scope it, and get it moving. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Director of Marketing, CTO and engineers on design and system tradeoffs rather than throwing requirements over a wall.
• Ruthlessly prioritize: first things first, one clearly defined task at a time, and a clear no to the rest for now.
• 4 to 7 years building products end-to-end, including at least one you shaped from zero to shipped.
• You think in outcomes, not tickets, and can turn a fuzzy goal into a measurable outcome with the acceptance criteria to prove it.
• AI-native by evidence, not by claim. You use agentic tooling daily and can show prototypes, specs, or analyses you built and pressure-tested with them rapidly.
• You are process-oriented. You can show how you reliably turn a room full of raw thinking into structured specs again and again, including a repeatable way of working with AI that makes it dependable rather than a one-off.
• You can prototype, with AI build tools well enough to make an idea real, achieve outcomes and get a reaction.
• Strong discovery muscle: you can run customer interviews grounded in past behavior and turn raw, conflicting signals into a clear spec.
• You write requirements engineers trust, with clear outcomes and acceptance criteria attached.
• Enough technical and system-design literacy to reason about architecture and tradeoffs and be genuinely useful to a hands-on engineering team.
• Product sensibility: you care about UX, speed, and polish, and push back when something is not right.
• You thrive in ambiguity and a fast pace; given sufficient autonomy, can make the call rather than waiting for a playbook.

Preferred qualifications

• Background in a monetization, payments, social, or creator platform.
• You are a creator yourself, or have built and monetized an audience.
• Former founder, or an early Engineer or Designer who moved into product.
• Fluency with product analytics (Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc) and light data work (SQL), and
• comfort running product work out of product management tools (Linear, JIRA, etc).

Tools you will live in

• Figma, where our design system and designer live and where you prototype and align on design.
• Linear, our single source of truth for planning, where you define issues, projects, and initiatives and where an initiative names a measurable outcome.
• Amplitude, our product analytics, where you own instrumentation so outcomes are measured, not assumed.
• Anthropic products or equivalent, such as tools like Cursor, which is how we prototype and get more done without a big team.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience and generous equity package.

Logistics

Remote within US time zones, with meaningful real-time overlap and occasional travel to work with Creators and partners. This is an individual-contributor role: it does not manage people and has no team under it. Years of experience should correlate with the scope of the role; we care most about demonstrated range and slope.
