Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive outpatient medical care in a dynamic university health setting. The role includes evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic health concerns, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, delivering preventive health education, and coordinating care with physicians and community specialists. The position also supports quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and campus outreach programs that promote student success and well-being. Position Details Title: Nurse Practitioner Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States Employment type: Full-time (1.0 FTE) Salary: Commensurate with qualifications Schedule: Standard (Monday‑Friday, 8:00‑5:00) FLSA Status: Exempt Contingent upon funding Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide medical services in the outpatient clinic, including history and physical assessment of presenting problems. Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory tests, X‑ray, EKG). Develop, initiate, and follow up on treatment plans. Educate patients on disease prevention and health maintenance. Consult with in‑house physicians and, when indicated, refer to specialists. Serve on facility committees to develop plans for improving patient care quality. Develop, review, and update patient care policies and protocols. Attend in‑house scheduled conferences and provide outreach education with the Health Educator. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing + 5 years of professional nursing experience and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and current New Mexico APRN/CNP licensure required. Preferred Qualifications: None specified. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Environment: Interior medical/clinical environment. Physical Effort: Light; applicable no more than two hours per day. Requires handling of average‑weight objects up to 25 pounds and standing or walking for more than four hours per day.
