Small Business Banker

General Purpose

The Small Business Banker is the ambassador for developing, managing, and expanding treasury solutions with small business clients. Building on the PBR role, this position requires proficiency in working with customers – primarily over the phone – to help fulfil business owners’ needs with advanced knowledge of business banking products, credit fundamentals, and treasury services.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Provides consultation, enrollment and training of essential business services.
• Conducts payment solutions conversations with small business clients to understand operational needs, cash flow cycles, and long term goals.
• Recommends and implements business banking products with client referrals from Retail.
• Sets up and assists clients with basic ACH origination agreements, wire transfer agreements, merchant processing, credit cards, and other cash management services to structure entitlements, dual control and ensure appropriate risk controls.
• Provides guidance on digital banking tools, fraud prevention practices, and account security.
• Partners with internal teams to deliver seamless product onboarding and consultation of client needs.
• May conduct business development activities, outbound calling to the top 2% of the small business segment.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable banking regulations, including KYC/AML requirements and treasury service risk controls.
• Maintains expert-level knowledge of business entity documentation and account structures.
• Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Strong consultative sales skills with the ability to build and deepen small business relationships.
• Advanced knowledge of business banking products, treasury services, and digital banking platforms.
• Ability to set up and explain Bill Pay, ACH origination, wire agreements, and other cash management tools.
• Familiar with business financial statements, cash flow, and credit fundamentals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage business owners and decision makers.
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage complex client needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and assist in business portfolio management.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Education or Formal Training:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License is required.

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years working as a Personal Banking Representative II, Lead PBR, Operations Specialist; or
• Three years of experience working on frontline at a financial institution, preferred.
• Sales and service experience within a banking environment is preferred.

Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Occasional travel to conferences, meetings, and branch locations may be necessary. May include some weekend and evening hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee also may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting Rate of Pay is from $21.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience.
