Mechanical AssemblerThis role involves assembling mechanical units, fabricated parts and components, and electrical or electronic systems to build subassemblies, assemblies, or complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and related equipment. You will fit, align, calibrate, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet defined tolerances and operating requirements, as well as repair units or products that do not initially meet specifications. The position follows clearly defined procedures and guidelines, focuses on routine and manual tasks, and requires basic technical knowledge that you can gain through on-the-job training.ResponsibilitiesAssemble mechanical units, fabricated parts, and components into subassemblies, assemblies, or complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and miscellaneous equipment.Assemble electrical and electronic systems as part of subassemblies or complete units, following detailed instructions and specifications.Fit, align, and secure parts and mechanisms to ensure assemblies meet specified tolerances and performance requirements.Calibrate and adjust components and mechanisms so that finished units meet product operating requirements.Inspect assemblies and subassemblies to verify they meet quality and regulatory standards, identifying any defects or nonconformances.Repair and rework units or products that fail to meet requirements, making necessary adjustments or replacements.Follow detailed and defined rules, work instructions, and standard operating procedures for all assembly and testing activities.Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and established solutions to complete tasks in straightforward situations.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, particularly in cleanroom or lab environments.Comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and applicable regulatory requirements during all assembly and testing work.Essential SkillsMechanical assembly experience or aptitude, including working with subassemblies and complete units.Proficiency using hand tools and basic power tools in an assembly environment.Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.Basic technical understanding of mechanical and electrical or electronic components within the scope of assigned tasks.Capability to fit, align, calibrate, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet specified tolerances and operating requirements.Experience or ability to work in a cleanroom or controlled lab environment.Familiarity with assembly work in regulated environments, including adherence to GMP and other regulatory requirements.Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct defects or nonconforming units.Comfort performing routine, manual tasks with consistency and accuracy.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with soldering in an assembly or manufacturing environment.Prior exposure to pump testing or similar mechanical testing processes.Experience working under documented quality systems or regulatory frameworks.Ability to learn and apply specialized education or training related to assembly processes.Willingness to work with both mechanical and electrical or electronic components as needed.Why Work Here?You will join a structured, process-driven environment where expectations are clear, procedures are well defined, and you receive guidance to succeed in your role. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some work may take place in a refrigerated pump testing room, where a smaller number of team members may be assigned at a time. You will use hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment in a setting that follows Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and regulatory requirements. Appropriate cleanroom or lab attire and protective gear are required to maintain product integrity and a safe working environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
