Field Sales Manager – Industrial Automation
Location: Michigan, USA | Territory: Michigan & New England
Salary : $130,000 + bonus/commission
Our client, a leading industrial automation and electronics solutions provider, is seeking an experienced Field Sales Manager to lead and develop a team of five outside sales representatives.
This is a hands-on, player-coach role with responsibility for driving territory growth, developing strategic accounts and expanding market share across Michigan, while overseeing a remote sales representative covering New England.
The successful candidate will lead sales initiatives targeting OEMs, value-added resellers, system integrators and industrial manufacturers, while developing new opportunities in high-growth markets including data centres, aerospace, space and commercial drone technology .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of five outside sales representatives, driving accountability and sales performance.
- Develop and execute territory strategies to grow revenue, profitability and market share.
- Expand existing accounts and win new business across OEMs, manufacturers, system integrators and distribution partners.
- Drive growth in emerging markets, including data centre infrastructure, aerospace and unmanned systems.
- Promote a broad portfolio of industrial automation, electrical controls, motors, drives, connectivity, engineering, field service and repair solutions.
- Build strategic relationships with customers, suppliers and key industry stakeholders.
- Manage sales pipelines, forecasts, KPIs and account plans, providing regular performance updates to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with inside sales, marketing, engineering, product management and supplier partners to maximise commercial opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years' experience in technical B2B sales within industrial automation, electrical distribution or related sectors.
- 3+ years' experience in sales leadership, management or team development.
- Proven success in territory development, new business acquisition and strategic account growth.
- Experience selling to OEMs, machine builders, system integrators or industrial manufacturing customers.
- Strong consultative selling, coaching, forecasting and pipeline management skills.
- Commercially minded, results-driven and comfortable engaging with engineers, procurement teams and senior decision-makers.
- Willingness to travel throughout Michigan, with periodic travel to New England and other strategic markets.
- Experience in data centres, aerospace, robotics, advanced manufacturing or industrial services would be a distinct advantage.
