Here, you will make an impact by:Assuming technical leadership on NPI (New Product Introduction) and NTI (New Technology Introduction) initiativesDeveloping and running simulations for Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) product designs.Creating and CAD models and guiding design efforts across a broad range of applications and product portfolios in the electrical industry.Supporting new products introductions in all stages of development from prototype development over feasibility demonstration to model validation and refinement.Interfacing with cross-functional team members (marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, technical service, quality, regulatory, etc) to ensure successful program delivery.Generating intellectual property positions, including invention submissions, patents and 3M trade secrets. Leading technical interactions with corporate, group and division labs to identify new technologies, processes and materials to be applied to the Energy MarketsDeveloping and commercializing products to efficiently, reliably and sustainably deliver energy to customers around the worldYour Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution. Three (3) years of product development, engineering or technical service in a private, public, government or military environmentThree (3) years of practical experience with CAD drawings and softwareAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institutionExperience with mechanical, electrical and thermal modelling.Experience with multi-physics modeling.Hands-on experience with industry standard CAD and modelling software suites.Excellent problem-solving skills, attention and customer first mindset.Interest in practical work, prototyping, simulating, testing, and validation of designsEagerness to learn and willingness to start on new topicsWork location:This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Austin, TX.Travel: May include up to 15% domestic or internationalRelocation: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
