About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized litigation firm is seeking an experienced General Liability / Product Liability Attorney to join its growing defense litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-exposure litigation matters involving product liability, personal injury, premises liability, transportation, and complex tort claims.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have strong civil defense litigation experience and the ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution. Candidates should be comfortable handling discovery, depositions, motion practice, court appearances, and trial preparation in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload independently from initial filing through resolution.
• Defend manufacturers, distributors, contractors, transportation companies, and corporate clients in general liability and product liability matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, mediation statements, and litigation correspondence.
• Prepare and defend fact witness, expert witness, and PMQ depositions.
• Conduct legal research and draft dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment.
• Analyze liability exposure, assess litigation risk, and develop defense strategies.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and case management conferences.
• Collaborate with partners and litigation teams on case strategy and trial preparation.
• Assist with trial preparation including witness preparation, exhibit review, and trial briefing.
• Maintain strong client communication and provide timely case updates.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the California Bar.
• 3+ years of civil defense litigation experience preferred.
• Experience handling general liability and/or product liability matters required.
• Strong deposition, discovery, and motion practice experience.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Trial preparation experience preferred.
