Banquet Manager

The Cambria Hotel in Detroit is expanding and looking for an experienced Banquet Manager to join our team! Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Banquet Manager to lead the execution of meetings, weddings, and social events in a high-volume, upscale hotel environment in downtown Detroit. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless event operations, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and leading a professional banquet team. Duties/Responsibilities Oversee all banquet and event operations from setup through breakdown Execute events according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with precision and attention to detail Lead, train, and schedule banquet staff to ensure service standards are met Collaborate with Sales, Culinary, and Event Planning teams to ensure flawless execution Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service timing Manage labor costs, staffing levels, and inventory of banquet equipment Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations Handle guest interactions professionally, resolving issues quickly and effectively Uphold brand standards and create memorable guest experiences Additional duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent observational skills and situational awareness. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. 3–5+ years of banquet or event management experience in a hotel, upscale restaurant, or conference center Experience managing large-scale events (100–300+ guests) preferred Strong leadership and team development skills Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Excellent organizational and communication skills Knowledge of POS systems, BEO management, and event operations Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Physical Requirements Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe. Must be able to walk/stand for entire shift. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds. Ability to traverse all parts of the property quickly. Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with Federal and State laws.
