Maintenance Technician

Maintenance TechnicianHours: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PMSuggested Qualifications:Experience performing routine maintenance and repairs in school facilities or similar environmentsHigh school diploma or equivalent (relevant maintenance experience, training, or education may be considered in place of a diploma)Self-motivated with the ability to address a variety of maintenance issues both inside and outside of buildingsDemonstrates strong ethical standards and takes responsibility for decisions and conductEffective time management and problem-solving skillsClear criminal background check appropriate for public school employmentAbility to use relevant technology, equipment, and systems as requiredReports To: Director of OperationsTerms of Employment: Hourly rate to be determined. Work to be based upon 260 days per year as determined by placement on the Board adopted salary schedule.Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of OperationsPerformance Criteria:1. Essential Performance Responsibilities:Perform routine maintenance and repairs related to: Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical Systems, Doors, Locks, Windows, Ceilings, Flooring, Walls, Furniture, Water Systems, Lighting Systems, Outlets, and SwitchesPerform minor plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, valves, and drainsComplete scheduled HVAC filter changes and assist with small HVAC repairs as neededRegularly monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure systems are operating properly and buildings remain in normal working orderConduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failure and facility downtimeRespond to maintenance work orders and prioritize tasks based on urgency and safetyAssist with event setup and teardown for school functions, activities, and building rentalsAssist with seasonal maintenance (snow removal support, HVAC changeovers, weather-related issues)Coordinate with custodial staff, administrators, and outside contractors as neededMaintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment servicedEnsure compliance with district policies, safety standards, and applicable codesParticipate in on-call rotation or emergency response as requiredAssist with minor construction, renovations, and facility improvements as directedMaintain inventory of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment; place orders as needed to ensure smooth and efficient maintenance operationsDaily upkeep and perform preventative maintenance (PM) on cleaning and custodial equipmentPerform yearly checks and preventative maintenance (PM) on building roofs, drains & gutters2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Experience in building maintenance or a related trade, preferably in a school or institutional settingExperience with commercial HVAC systems and school Building Automation Systems (BAS)Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systemsAbility to safely operate tools, equipment, and district vehiclesStrong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral, written, and technology)Ability to follow instructions, document work, and report maintenance issues clearlyKnowledge of safety regulations and building codesAbility to work independently and as part of a team
