Injection Molding Machine Operator
Manchester, CT
1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-11:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Injection Molding Machine Operator to support daily manufacturing operations in a hands-on production environment. This role is responsible for setting up, starting, operating, monitoring, and shutting down injection molding equipment and related peripheral machinery.

The ideal candidate has previous exposure to injection molding and understands the basic setup and operation of injection molding machinery. Candidates with experience as an Injection Molding Machine Operator, Injection Molding Technician, Process Technician, or similar manufacturing role are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate injection molding machinery and related automated production equipment.
• Review production schedules, process procedures, work instructions, and specifications before beginning production.
• Perform machine setup activities and prepare the appropriate materials, components, fixtures, and equipment for production.
• Perform proper machine start-up procedures and verify equipment is operating within established process parameters.
• Monitor injection molding machines and peripheral equipment throughout the production process.
• Make basic machine or process adjustments as needed to maintain consistent production and product quality.
• Inspect molded components and finished products to ensure they meet established workmanship and quality specifications.
• Identify quality issues or production defects and communicate problems to the appropriate team members.
• Assist with rework or repair activities when products do not meet required specifications.
• Monitor materials used during the manufacturing process and ensure proper handling and usage.
• Record required production, quality, inventory, and statistical process control data.
• Perform preventative maintenance on injection molding machines and related equipment according to established schedules.
• Perform proper machine shutdown procedures, including cleaning equipment and preparing the work area for the next production run.
• Communicate equipment, process, material, or quality issues to supervisors, technicians, maintenance, or engineering personnel.
• Follow all established safety, quality, production, and equipment operating procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous exposure to injection molding machinery is required.
• Experience setting up or operating injection molding machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of basic injection molding machine setup, start-up, operation, monitoring, and shutdown procedures.
• Ability to follow production schedules, process procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
• Ability to monitor equipment and recognize when machine or process adjustments may be needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect finished parts for defects or quality concerns.
• Comfortable working with automated manufacturing equipment and peripheral machinery.
• Ability to accurately complete basic production and quality documentation.
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work the required first- or second-shift schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Injection Molding Machine Operator, Injection Molding Technician, Process Technician, or Machine Operator.
• Hands-on experience performing injection molding machine setups or changeovers.
• Experience making basic machine or process adjustments during production.
• Experience troubleshooting injection molding equipment or identifying molding defects.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance on manufacturing machinery.
• Experience working in a quality-focused, high-volume manufacturing environment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has hands-on exposure to injection molding and is comfortable setting up and operating injection molding machinery in a production environment. This person should understand basic machine setup, start-up, operation, process monitoring, quality inspection, and shutdown procedures. We are open to candidates with different levels of injection molding experience, but previous exposure to injection molding equipment is the key requirement for this position.
