Job Summary The Director, Bank Supervision position supports the advancement of CSBS's bank supervision priorities and initiatives within the Bank Supervision Team and the broader Policy and Supervision Business Unit. This role helps shape and execute supervisory strategies that support state banking departments and strengthen the state system of financial regulation. Working closely with state regulators and internal teams, the Director analyzes supervisory issues, contributes to examination solutions, and supports key state and federal priorities. The Director, Bank Supervision also plays a key role in identifying emerging supervisory trends, advancing examination-related initiatives, and developing resources that enhance the effectiveness and consistency of state supervision. The Director, Bank Supervision position will leverage experience in bank supervision to advance CSBS's supervisory initiatives and support the priorities of state regulators by: Supervisory Policy Support Track and analyze supervisory policy issues, emerging supervisory risks, regulatory developments, and industry trends affecting state-regulated institutions. Own the development of supervisory guidance, policy resources, and examination-related materials. Contribute to CSBS policy initiatives that strengthen supervisory practices and advance the role of state regulators in the supervision of financial institutions. Interagency & Stakeholder Engagement Own engagement with federal agencies, state banking departments, and regulatory partners. Participate in interagency working groups, task forces, and meetings, representing CSBS with guidance from senior leadership. Assist in communicating supervisory priorities and perspectives of state regulators. Represent CSBS and state banking departments in interagency supervisory initiatives, including participation and leadership roles in FFIEC task forces and working groups. Communicate the perspectives and priorities of state regulators in discussions with federal banking agencies and regulatory partners. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with federal agencies, state banking departments, and industry stakeholders to advance supervisory coordination and policy objectives. Lead coordination between state regulators and federal supervisory partners to promote effective and consistent supervisory practices. Supervisory Innovation and Tools Lead efforts to identify and evaluate tools and resources that enhance supervisory capabilities. Identify and evaluate technology solutions that enhance supervisory capabilities within state banking departments. Collaborate with CSBS Research & Analytics team to develop tools, data products, and resources that support risk identification and examination effectiveness. Support the development and implementation of innovative supervisory tools and programs that strengthen the state regulatory system. Member Engagement and Internal Collaboration Support CSBS committee and working group activities related to supervision policy development. Respond to inquiries from state banking departments and internal stakeholders. Contribute to cross-organizational initiatives and projects aligned with supervision priorities. Additional Responsibilities Contribute to supervisory analyses, reports, and briefing materials. Serve as a subject matter resource on bank supervision topics. Support policy development and member engagement efforts. Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree is a plus. 6-10 years of experience in bank supervision at a regulatory agency. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of bank supervision principles and regulatory frameworks. Ability to analyze regulatory developments and supervisory issues. Ability to translate complex information into clear written materials. Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to lead complex initiatives, coordinate across multiple stakeholders, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders across organizational and regulatory boundaries. Ability to apply strategic thinking and sound judgment to complex supervisory and regulatory issues and recommend practical solutions. Written communication - ability to prepare clear, well-structured written materials including policy analyses, reports, speeches, and briefing materials. Oral communication - ability to present supervisory and regulatory issues clearly and confidently to diverse audiences. * Problem solving - ability to define problems, analyze information, and develop practical supervisory or policy solutions.
