Position Overview To help the Holton, KS facility reach our goal to be the “Best Company in the World”, a successful candidate will strategically plan, direct, and lead the implementation of safety programs and guidelines through member ownership. Responsibilities Create the “Safest” Company in the World through continuous improvement, ownership, member engagement, and drive Lead the facility safety effort through the creation, implementation, and direction of processes and programs to meet operational needs while maintaining and managing safety compliance to world class safety standards Lead, design and implement environmental management systems to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of the organization’s activities and ensure all organizational processes meet the required standards Oversee adherence to safety policies performing regular audits and addressing instances of non‑compliance; Compile detailed and comprehensive reports and maintain meticulous records as mandated by law Serves as the emergency response coordinator and works in conjunction with emergency services to conduct a thorough investigation of incidents to determine the root causes and preventive measures Facilitate Safety education and training throughout the membership and during meetings making safety part of day‑to‑day activities, while inserting safety into every related process of our business Lead efforts to create and maintain a safety culture that leverages member ownership, involvement, and personal accountability Take an active role in the Corporate Safety Leadership team and facilitate the sharing of ideas between facilities at the corporate level (incorporate Johnsonville programs into your facilities practices) Actively participate as a member of the Core Team Facilitate the Safety Team to lead and ensure compliance with all governmental safety regulations, procedures, guidelines and best practices Develop and lead efforts on the attainment of all safety key performance indicators Lead safety compliance evaluations for facility specific requirements Manage Workers Compensation Claims and Property Insurance recommendations Actively participate in continuous learning to grow knowledge and skills through classes, webcasts/seminars, OSHA compliance trainings Experience Bachelor’s Degree required- safety emphasis preferred. 5 years of experience leading safety in a manufacturing environment preferred. Skills A passion for safety that motivates others to want to succeed Proven leadership qualities in managing teams, getting work done through others, meeting timelines, and holding yourself accountable for safety results The ability to complete safety actions even when you have to rely on others to help complete those actions A history of motivating individuals and teams to rally around safety KPI’s and complete upstream actions to promote world class safety Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks.
