Guidance Nav & Control Engineer

Description: 

ENG- Design, analyze, test, and certify flight control systems and components for large commercial aircraft while supporting production and fleet operations. Responsibilities span system requirements decomposition, certification activities, Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) analysis, validation and testing, issue resolution, and cross-functional coordination.

#Education & Job Requirements

*Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and typically 9+ years of work-related experience
*5-7 years of technical experience working with Flight Controls
*Flight Controls
*Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
*Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

#Preferred Skills

*5+ years of experience in related engineering work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
*Experience with System Safety Analysis, including failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, common cause analysis, and single and multiple failure analysis
*Knowledge or experience with ARP 4754 and ARP 4761
*Experience with flight control system and component architecture
*Experience in requirements development, design, analysis, and verification and validation of flight control systems
*Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
*Experience with manufacturing regulated and certified, safety-critical components and software

#Job Duties & Functions

*Decompose airplane-level requirements into system-level requirements and further into component requirements
*Participate in and lead system, component, and detail certification efforts, including certification artifacts, traceability to regulatory requirements, and regulation conflict resolution
*Gather, define, and document system-level requirements supporting flight control and mission or trajectory requirements definition
*Resolve requirement conflicts
*Analyze and document Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems to validate or assess system designs and models
*Participate in and lead system-level and component-level validation analysis and testing
*Monitor testing, author analysis and test reports, review and approve supplier test reports, analyze test failures, and support test failure mitigation
*Coordinate cross-functionally with avionics, pilot and crew operations, airplane safety, aerodynamics, systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies
*Develop solutions and disposition issues to support customer satisfaction
*Train and coach other engineers
*Support work under general direction
